Duke Sizemore here, and today I’m flipping the board because the two biggest preseason hype signals are going in COMPLETELY opposite directions! Here’s what we’ve got: Indiana is sitting at a massive plus-91.3 after a 19-and-63 season, while the LA Clippers are all the way down at minus-108.2 after finishing 42-and-41. Now THAT is a spread!
Okay, okay, okay, get into those numbers. The Pacers own the top-riser spot at plus-91.3. The Clippers? Biggest faller at minus-108.2. That’s nearly TWO HUNDRED points separating the hype readings of those two teams, and remember what this is: preseason positioning, not a new result on the floor.
Because as of today, August 31, the day-over-day power-movers board is EMPTY. Nobody crossed the movement threshold compared with August 30. The title-race data is stale, Summer League is stale, and I am not gonna dress up old numbers and call ’em breaking news!
Now, one Washington note, because there’s another layer to that Wizards picture. Their finish was ice cold: six straight listed losses from April 4 through April 12, ending at 17-and-65 with a 1201 Elo. But the preseason model has them at 1355.5 and number 24, six slots above their final ranking. That reset is coming from a 1305.7 carry Elo blended with a stronger 1405.3 market Elo. Translation: the market baseline is giving Washington more respect than that brutal closing stretch did.
And the calendar matters. We are still in the offseason window. The next confirmed game in this data is October 3, Miami against Toronto in preseason action. Until somebody actually puts a new result on the board, these are signals, not victories.
Pacers up, Clippers down, Wizards recalibrated, and no fake drama from a market that didn’t move today. That’s your Court Vision Daily Brief! Duke Sizemore signing off, and I’ll catch you tomorrow!
