Duke Sizemore here, and the market just put Dallas on the BIGGEST downward move of the day — 12.8 Elo points, gone! Here’s what we’ve got today: the Mavericks get repriced, Indiana and Minnesota move the other way, and Boston’s late-season scar tissue is still sitting there in plain sight.
Okay, okay, okay, Dallas first. The Mavericks dropped 12.8 market-Elo points since August 26, down to 1314.3. Their listed title probability is just 0.16 percent, with title odds at 50000. And there is roster activity around them: Naji Marshall gets a three-year, 52.2-million-dollar extension, and Dallas gets Risacher in that three-team trade. Those are part of the backdrop — they do NOT prove what caused the market move. But the move itself? Largest drop on today’s board!
Now flip the board, because Indiana is coming UP. The Pacers gain 5.5 to reach a 1563.8 market Elo, and that comes with a difficult injury note: Johnny Furphy is out after a torn right ACL. Minnesota is also up 4.9, reaching 1601.9. And the biggest positive move belongs to Washington at plus 7.2 — but we dug deep into the Wizards yesterday, so today I’m keeping the spotlight moving!
And that spotlight lands on Boston. The Celtics are down another 3.5 in today’s market snapshot to 1657.1, but the bigger number is the 38.9-point downswing in their recent trajectory. Philadelphia beat Boston three straight times in the listed finish: 113-97, 106-93, then 109-100. THREE consecutive losses to the same opponent, and I mean THAT is the kind of ending that follows you into an offseason conversation.
Boston does have a new commitment on the books: Jordan Walsh agreed to a three-year, 15-million-dollar extension. Jayson Tatum is listed day-to-day with the knee issue.
And remember what calendar we’re on: no fresh Summer League games, no fresh title-race signal, and no NBA game to recap today. The next confirmed game in this feed is Miami at Toronto on October 3. So right now, market movement is where the action is — and today, nobody moved harder in the wrong direction than Dallas.
